About School Counseling
Are you ready to take the next step in your teaching career? Getting your Master of Science in School Counseling degree is a step in the right direction. Take a mixture of fall, spring and summer-intensive virtual courses to finish your degree. You'll take classes such as advanced counseling techniques, career development and assessment and advanced psychopathology.
While taking classes, you'll complete 160 hours of practicum experience. Don't worry, you can do that while still working in the classroom. After graduation, you'll be ready to sit for the TExES certification exam. Just make sure you have at least two years of teaching experience by the time you finish your coursework.
With your degree, you're ready to work in any kindergarten through 12th-grade public, private or charter school.
The Graduate Counseling Programs at Texas Wesleyan University welcome and encourage applications from potential students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, socioeconomic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs and other ideologies.
