Athletic Training

About Athletic Training

As an athletic training student, you'll learn how to care for athletes including injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, reconditioning of injuries and more. You'll get hands-on experience during your required two years of clinical education experience.

In the TXWES athletic training program, you have the unique opportunity to get your Bachelor's of Science of Athletic Training (BSAT) as opposed to most other programs who award a simple Bachelor of Science degree.

Every class you take puts you one step closer to becoming a Board Certified Athletic Trainer. When you graduate, you'll be eligible to take the BOC certification exam.

CAATE Accredited Program

‌The undergraduate Athletic Training Program at Texas Wesleyan University has voluntarily withdrawn their accreditation and is no longer admitting students. The date of voluntary withdrawal of accreditation coincides with the graduation of the last cohort in May 2024.

Until that time, current students continue in a top-notch program. The TXWES athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). That means they are getting a quality education in athletic training.
