Are you wondering what it takes to become a certified teacher? We have everything you need to know about what tests to take, what to study, where to sign up and more. Start preparing for your certification test today.

About the certification exam

Certification exams are provided by the State of Texas through the Texas Education Agency. All students wanting to get their initial certification must pass two or more certification exams to be certified to teach in the state of Texas.

In order to qualify to sit for the state certification exams called Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES), you have to meet the requirements through coursework, review processes and practice exams as detailed in the Student Handbook.

You must pass both content and PPR (Professional Practices and Responsibilities) exams before clinical teaching. We'll give you the information and resources you need to help you with the TExES exams.
